About
Rolling Acid is a celebration of freedom and contradiction. Designed by a team consisting of Sonja Xiao Long as Creative Director, Dutch artist Mr. Pong Pong and a team of young creative talents, the brand itself represents the inherent conflict between commercial and conceptual.
Sonja, with a background in retail as founder of one of China’s first and most progressive multi-brand concept store ALTER and Mr. Pong Pong, with a background in contemporary art, come from vastly different backgrounds but strike a balance to create “walking canvas” that is young and playful yet subversive. As the creators believe that what is raw is posh and what’s expressive is imperfect.
The dichotomy of past and future represents the push and pull that is inherent to the brand’s spirit, which often mixes feminine and masculine, refined and organic. Although heavily inspired by the sub culture of the 60s and 70s, there are still plenty of contemporary references.
Rolling Acid is visually impactful, with striking and conceptual aesthetics that are made for the bold. And although Rolling Acid is strong in terms of design, concept, and visuals, there is an ease and subtlety that bring harmony to this otherwise disruptive label.
